Curator/ Preservationist 1 - Jarrell Plantation Historic Site
Georgia Department of Natural Resources - PRHS Division
Aug 2018 - Present
Created and managed a variety of site programs and events based on interpretive themes and also updated legacy events. Awarded most innovative programing for a historic site in 2020.
Developed and offered outreach programs and presentations to promote Jarrell Plantation and Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites, including 4H pioneer days and a 4 part class for Wesleyan College.
Designed and built museum exhibits to expand depth of interpretation and cultural representation.
Handled all marketing at the site and answered visitor questions and concerns with care and sensitivity.
Maintained historic site structures and managed the organization and preservation of site's artifacts, including further inventory of collection, an overhaul of artifact storage, and new museum lighting.
Researched and updated text for all site interpretive panels and the site’s self-guided tour brochure. Created new panels to meet accessibility standards. Also created a new edit of the site film.
Served multiple times as manager on duty for High Falls State Park in 2019, and currently serve on the Programming Advisory Committee, and in that role, assisted with Annual interpretive Training for 2022.
Completed the 2022 Georgia Park Ranger Academy and have Black Powder and CPR/AED Certifications.
Historic Preservation Intern

Assisted with preservation of cemetery’s monuments and grounds including unearthing and cleaning of buried grave markers and restoration of original pathways and gardens.
Wrote historic preservation grant for $5000 restoration project to be undertaken in summer 2018.
Promoted preservation programs through several presentation and film projects and developed 4 educational events for the historic site, encouraging increased community involvement.

Wrote, produced, and edited 6 films for marketing and promotional purposes for use by Brunswick, GA organizations, including the College of Coastal Georgia and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Led a crew of 4 in planning each film production schedule and executing filming under a strict budget and deadline.
Organized and conducted 20 interviews on a variety of topics related to each project.

As Editor at Large, managed a staff of four in evaluating journal submissions, creating layout design, and corresponding to the journal’s publisher, contest judges, artists, and writers. Planned and executed a series of events and workshops to help market the journal and find talent to feature in its pages, including 2 community reading events, 3 creative workshops for artists and writers, a poetry slam, and a first copy release event.
As Web Consultant, created design and layout for the forthcoming online companion journal.
As Organization President, managed the journal's records and budget to keep journal in compliance with college regulations.

As a Supplemental Instruction Leader, researched and planned supplemental lessons in history, political science, and writing to help students struggling in those courses succeed. Led lessons of 30+ students 3 times a week to help with difficult material or prepare for exams, papers, and projects. Assisted professors and students in the classroom each week, coordinated meetings with students, and kept organized records of communications.
Leader of Coastal Discovery Workshop half semester course in 2015, meeting with 20 students in the classroom and online over D2L for homework and exams.
Leader of Anchor Days 2016 D2L workshop for all incoming freshmen.
Monticello Intern - International Center for Jefferson Studies

Provided technical assistance for three offices at Monticello. Created informational packets for all incoming research fellows, Created an exhibit archiving the photo history of ICJS events and speakers, and answered Thomas Jefferson and Monticello related inquires by phone and email.
Facilitated ICJS presentations and interdepartmental meetings and gave tours of Monticello and the ICJS. Worked closely with International research fellows to ensure all concerns were alleviated during their stay.
For the oral history office, built an archive and organized research materials and kept minutes for their meetings. Assisted the enrichment office in hosting VIP events and tours.
